Dear Colleagues, I am very sorry to have to inform you that Larry Hoey, Professor of Art History here at UWM, was killed in a car accident in France last Thursday, July 27th. My understanding is that he was traveling with colleagues with whom he had recently attended a conference, and that the driver of the car veered off the road and into a ditch. Larry, who was resting in the back seat, was thrown from the car and killed. [Editor's Note: Larry was not thrown from the car] Professor Hoey is survived by his mother, Carolyn, in Pennsylvania, and a brother, Thomas E. Hoey, who lives in Maine. Our very sincere condolences go out to them and to all his many friends on campus. He will be very much missed. We will be holding a memorial celebration in honor of Larry on Sunday, September 10th, at the Hefter Center. His friends and colleagues in Art History will be planning that event. Thanks for you understanding. Charles Schuster, Milwaukee,
Wisconsin
